Massage therapy is the the manipulation of soft tissue to relieve stress and tension. The most common form of massage done the United States is Swedish massage.
Swedish massage is the basis for most massage modalities. By using a number of different strokes (including for example: effleurage, petrissage), Swedish massage is known for it's relaxing qualities. While this technique can be relaxing, it can also be employed more firmly to help relieve muscular tension.
Often referred to as trigger point work, Neuromuscular therapy works with small areas of tension to relieve tension in larger areas. While it can be uncomfortable, it shouldn't be painful. I always work within your comfort levels while still being effective.
I blend Swedish massage with Neuromuscular therapy to bring about relaxation while also addressing problem areas. I have also had training in may other modalities that I've integrated into my sessions. I don't charge by the technique, I use what I've learned and customize each session to your concerns that day.
